Last year, RTM Engineering Consultants hosted monthly broadcasts aimed at educating the architecture and commercial real estate communities on new engineering processes and best practices, while providing the opportunity to earn American Institute of Architects (AIA) credits.
As advocates for both internal and external training, the webinar series allows RTM to share expert knowledge and to be a resource to industry professionals—providing them with the continued education and hands-on experience it takes to truly grow within the industry.
The first session, Accomplishing Your Sustainability Goals was led by RTM Principal Mitesh Smart, P.E., and examined various sustainable programs that achieve energy efficiencies in new construction and existing buildings.
While providing insight on programs, such as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) & Green Globes Administration—both certification programs that encourage sustainable designs—the webinar also addressed how owners can achieve the best results when leveraging the programs. The session included an overview of commissioning and retro commissioning; RTM offers both services to clients in various market sectors to improve operations and reduce operational costs in new and existing facilities. As the opportunity for potential savings is the greatest in the beginning of a project, it’s advisable to onboard commissioning authorities early in the design to ensure the construction process goes smoothly and issues do not arise during occupancy.
