RTM completed full MEP engineering design for this 13-story, 320-guestroom hotel with convention style meeting rooms and a partial atrium. The connected 88,000-square-foot conference center serves as a year round activity center hosting a variety of events.
Additional features include several multi-use, flexible meeting spaces, including a main ballroom totaling 28,800 square feet, a junior ballroom providing 7,200 square feet, and multiple additional breakout meeting spaces totaling 4,800 square feet. All of these areas are able to be used for larger events or broken down into several separate spaces for maximum multi-use.
RTM designed MEP systems for the hotel, meeting rooms, full banquet kitchen, storage and related support spaces. Additionally MEP systems were designed for a three-story, 15,000-square-foot media center; a 35,000 square-foot expo hall; and a 940-stall parking garage.
Design and construction for this project followed an extremely fast-track schedule to accommodate the opening of the broadcast studio. RTM worked closely with contractors and owners to meet strict deadlines and minimize disruption on remaining portions of the massive conference center.
The hotel is provided with a central chiller plant using a heat exchanger for supplying free-cooling during the cooler months, while the conference center is provided with water-cooled, rooftop units providing high-efficiency cooling. All pumps and large fans are supplied with variable speed drives for maximum energy efficiency. Each building is supplied with its own individual electrical service with back-up generators serving the hotel and conference/media center.
