RTM provided electrical engineering and lighting design for the new bicycle/pedestrian bridge that extends the Venta Spur Trail across the city from Northpark to the Great Park, allowing pedestrians and bicyclists direct, safe access across State Route 133. The design was challenging as it required the fence to be custom made in order to house the fixture and conduits. The light fixture is an RGB and will illuminate the complete fence at night.
The existing Venta Spur Trail is a path for pedestrians and bicyclists that extends more than three miles across the northern portion of the City. The enhancement of the pathway reflects the City’s commitment to encourage active transportation and the continual development of their master plan.
The bridge is 305-feet long and 15-feet wide and is the City’s 34th pedestrian bridge. Benefits of the project include reduced traffic congestion, non-motorized/off-street connectivity, environmental and health benefits, and enhanced driver/pedestrian/cyclist safety.
