NEW YEAR, NEW TITLE.
We are proud to announce the promotion of four new Principals to the RTM Engineering Consultants team. Each individual came to RTM through a different career path, but all share the same CORE values and have demonstrated a tremendous amount of dedication and hard work over the years.
Read about each of our new Principals below:
Brian Clark carries over 25 years of experience designing MEP systems and holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He joined RTM in 2018 as part of the acquisition of MFEC. Since then, he has taken on additional responsibilities in client management, office management, and office leadership. From a young age, Brian had family suggest he look into studying engineering in college because of his proficiency in math and science, and he soon realized mechanical engineering was the right career for him. Brian enjoys working on laboratory and healthcare projects, and learning about new and interesting MEP systems that efficiently solve problems. A few of Brian’s notable achievements are obtaining his PE license 23 years ago, the design of a 600,000-square-foot hospital project, along with his promotion to principal. As he continues his career, he would like to help train and lead the next generation of engineers at RTM and watch as the firm continues to grow.
Jim Basquette brings more than 30 years of experience in electrical engineering design and holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He joined RTM in 2018, as part of the acquisition of MFEC, as an electrical QA/QC manager for Overland Park. He quickly added project production, management and business development to his responsibilities. Jim has always been good in math and physics, and tinkered with electronics for as long as he can remember, so he knew engineering would be a great fit for his skills. Currently, he is licensed in Missouri, California, Nevada, Arizona, Oklahoma, Oregon, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, Rhode Island, Hawaii, and Alabama with plans to gain a license in Colorado and Alaska this year. He enjoys being able to provide solutions to clients and thinks the best part of his job is seeing tangible evidence of the work performed.
Tim Shoemaker joined RTM in 2000 as part of the acquisition of Applied Engineering and played a role in starting RTM’s civil engineering department. Since joining RTM, Tim has continued to take on more projects moving up from a design position, through project management, and now to principal. He recently moved to the Overland Park office to help grow RTM’s civil engineering services there. One of his favorite things about engineering are the fundamentals that were laid down thousands of years ago, which are just as important today as they were then. Tim enjoys working on railroads, waterways, and commercial, residential, and industrial developments. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
Jessica Iversen joined RTM’s Schaumburg office straight out of college, where she spent 7 years learning the ropes and gaining a wealth of experience including becoming an office leader. This eventually opened the opportunity for her to move to Seattle and start RTM’s first office there, successfully expanding our capabilities in the Pacific Northwest. Jessica’s top 3 career achievements include starting an RTM office from the ground-up, being able to witness engineers that she has mentored take on leadership roles of their own, and being heavily involved with the new and exciting Okana Resort and Indoor Water Park project. Now as a principal, Jessica is looking forward to mentoring new engineers as RTM’s presence on the west coast grows and continuing to expand her own knowledge and skills. She is currently licensed in Illinois and Washington, with hopes of getting licensed in more states in the coming years, especially in the Northwest.
