RTM Reflections: How We Recruit at Career Fairs
One of our recruiting strategies at RTM Engineering Consultants is identifying candidates whose career objectives align with our firm’s culture.
For example, among our CORE values is “Excellence in engineering: we persistently work to find the right solution for the project.” So, when meeting aspiring RTM interns at career fairs, we look for signs that those prospective team members are curious, adaptable, continual learners.
Another of our CORE values that complements excellence in engineering is “Collaborative communication: we listen, learn, and solve together.” When interviewing at career fairs, we seek candidates who prepare for discussions with us by reading about RTM on our website or listening to our Beyond Engineering podcast, and then come ready with their questions. We do our part by putting those interested students at ease at our booth, drawing them into conversations rather than stand-up presentations.
I have a particular interest in the way we recruit at career fairs because I discovered RTM while attending a fair myself. And now, I work at our booth helping other impending graduates learn about opportunities for developing and growing their career at RTM. That’s why I’d like to share a series of episodes we released earlier this year about how we recruit interns at career fairs.
What Makes an Ideal Candidate for RTM?
Does a career fair have to be a nerve-wracking experience? Our recruiting team thinks not.
