RTM is providing MEP and civil engineering services for the 2,150-square-foot classroom addition and the 2,500-square-foot renovation within the School of Labor and Employment Relations building. Renovations include upgrades to the mechanical systems and building envelope throughout the LER building, including the outdoor terrace, on the Urbana-Champaign campus. Utility infrastructure upgrades and electrical distribution for power and tele/data are included.
Existing air handlers, and associated controls, will be decommissioned, removed and replaced with single multi-zoned VAV mixing type unit in the mechanical room.
Major excavation removal and re-grading of soil, as well as associated landscaping, will take place on the east side of the building to accommodate the addition. It is anticipated that there may be major modifications to the storm water management system and minor modifications possibly to the campus chilled water supply/return (also at the entry) and lighting distribution system associated with the parking lot illumination system to the north.
