RTM provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design for a new 12,333-square-foot steel building addition to Rush Trucking facility in Springfield, Illinois.
The structure is a prefab metal building with insulated walls and roof system to comply with IECC 2015 requirements. The new addition has 11 service bays and one wash bay, a traveling 10-ton crane, individual bay vehicle exhaust systems and dedicated make up air systems for the new addition and the existing 10 service bays.
The new addition is heated with gas fired infrared heaters and roof mounted exhaust fans for general ventilation requirements.
The new lighting system design is 100% LED fixtures with time clock controls.
The plumbing system incorporates trench drains and a new 2000-gallon oil separator for draining from the service bays.
The wash bay is drained directly into the sanitation system. The new wash bay has an industrial gas fire power washer unit. The existing service bay areas was not well drained, so a new shallow trench drain system with catch basin is being added to improve drainage from off flow from vehicles bringing in rain or snow.
