RTM is providing MEP/FP engineering design for the Black Ensemble Theater project located at 4427 N. Clark in Chicago. This culturally diverse, live and work village will be focused on performance art and affordable housing for local artists. The project will involve two phases. Phase 1 involves the validation of existing conceptual studies, providing the final conceptual design, as well as schematic design. Phase 2 will consist of design development through construction administration for the project.

The new development will expand the mixed-use campus and will consist of multiple buildings. The project anticipates constructing a six-story building that includes affordable housing for artists, retail space and cafes, offices, classrooms and studios, a parking garage, business center and community pavilion.

The project is expected to be a 5-year phased construction development with the goal of expanding the Free To Be mission of a community of acceptance, culture, and positivity.
