BIG SKY, MT
RTM provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, technology, lighting, and construction administration services for a mid-mountain restaurant offering sweeping views of Montana’s Gallatin Mountain Range. Perched at 9,573 feet, the building is gradually revealed to guests via gondola, creating a memorable arrival experience.
RTM supported system planning and coordination from design through construction, working closely with the architect, owner, and utilities to align MEP systems with the project’s high-altitude demands. Early evaluations shaped HVAC and electrical strategies, while later phases focused on zoning, distribution, and integration. Infrastructure planning also addressed snowmelt, backup power, and low-voltage, AV, and security systems, while fire protection services ensured compliance and integration.
Lighting design met dark sky requirements, minimizing impact on wildlife while highlighting architectural elements and beams without over-illuminating. Inside, coordination between lighting and mechanical systems was key, with lighting enhancing the atmosphere in the restaurant, lounge, and après-ski patio, complementing the warm, alpine-inspired aesthetic.
