The project consisted of the replacement of an existing rural bridge that was constructed prior to 1960. The existing East 1st Street Bridge over Kitty Creek was an 18’ wide single span timber structure with an HMA/Sealcoat surface. The consultant proposed a 30’ wide, 3-span, continuous slab bridge as the replacement structure. The bridge replacement contract was with the City of Monticello, administered through Local Roads utilizing Federal Aid, and was led by the Iowa DOT.
J+M Civil Design, a division of RTM provided engineering design and construction plans for the bridge approaches and associated roadway widening. Design included proposed profile, grading, drainage and applicable details, standards, and tabulations.
