BIG SKY, MT

RTM provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, construction administration, technology and lighting design for the new restaurant located mid-mountain, offering panoramic views of Montana’s Gallatin Mountain Range.

Located at a high-altitude at 9,573 feet above sea level, the restaurant is slowly revealed as patrons travel up the gondola from the mountains base.

Adhering to dark sky requirements was paramount, and lighting was thoughtfully designed with wildlife in mind, RTM carefully aimed the exterior lighting at architectural elements, enhancing angled structures and concentrating light on beams.

Exposed ceilings created a particular challenge since conduit and lights were located to reduce structural penetrations. The shallow ceiling plenum required extensive coordination between lighting and mechanical to ensure systems would fit in the ceiling space provided.

The facility offers a full-service restaurant with traditional cuisine inspired by the French Alps, an open and cozy lounge offers a vibrant social scene, as well as an iconic outdoor après-ski patio for the whole family to enjoy.
