SC Johnson & Sons, Inc.
RTM Engineering Consultants provided an arc flash study for the Waxdale Manufacturing Facility, one of SC Johnson’s largest global manufacturing facilities producing millions of trusted household products every year.
RTM’s scope of work for this project included analyzing the existing unit substation data obtained from SCJ (data collection included USS MV switch and fuse data, transformer data, and LV switchboard OCPD data), confirming the accuracy with a site survey, and modifying the system model accordingly.
In doing this, RTM was able to perform a short circuit, overcurrent protective device, and arc flash study for all existing secondary medium-voltage (MV) to low-voltage (LV) unit substation to evaluate the existing electrical system. A report for each of these studies was provided to the client, as well a one-line diagram depicting fault current and arc flash levels. The results of the study provided to the client will be used in order to print the necessary arc flash labels for equipment.
