Not only were the buildings designed to be aesthetically consistent with Shawnee Mission Health’s existing medical structures throughout the metro area, but also to be a respectful neighbor to the adjacent planned development. The building facades will echo the brand and modern design elements associated with SMH. The use of glass curtain walls combined with masonry elements will be the overriding materials of the building facades. The buildings will collectively create a campus like environment with proportions and scale to the surrounding community.
Future campus development will eventually include a 60-80-bed hospital expandable to an overall 200-bed capacity and a second MOB. In addition, this project is part of the overall BluHawk Development Master Plan which will include 400,000 square feet of class A medical and general office space, over 1 million square feet of luxury outdoor shopping and dining, an upscale grocery store, 600 apartments, 127 single family residences with 52 attached villas, and a full service hotel.
